On-Ramp Wireless Introduces Global AMI Platform for Smart Metering (Visit On-Ramp at Autovation in booth #729)
Offers a complete platform for utility automation
San Diego, Calif. – September 26,2011 –
On-Ramp Wireless today announced its advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) solution, which is based on its award-winning Ultra-Link ProcessingTM (ULP) wireless networking platform for utility automation. The solution supports greater than fifty square miles coverage and up to forty thousand electric meters per On-Ramp ULP Access Point, reducing network and operational costs by up to 5x compared with competing systems. The advanced Meter Communication Module (MCM), developed by On-Ramp, supports ANSI meter markets with advanced features such as remote disconnect, on demand reads, precise event correlation and interval reads down to fifteen minutes.
To successfully bring the solution to market, On-Ramp is partnering with systems integrators as well as Valued Added Resellers and manufacturers to provide utility customers with a complete suite of solutions and services. Furthermore, On-Ramp plans to announce meter data management systems (MDMS) partners which will work with On-Ramp to transform AMI data into accurate, timely and actionable information for electric, natural gas and water utilities on a single converged network. The MDMS will integrate with On-Ramp’s flexible head-end application to provide a complete, secure and integrated AMI solution.
“With our new meter device interface offerings and MDMS partners, On-Ramp now offers a complete global platform for Smart Meter communications and converged distribution grid automation applications,” said Joaquin Silva, president and CEO of On-Ramp. “This will allow utility customers, systems integrators and Value Added Resellers to lower costs and drastically accelerate deployments thereby achieving positive ROIs in an application area currently challenged to show positive business case results to its critical stakeholders.”
About On-Ramp Wireless
On-Ramp Wireless has developed the first wireless system purpose-built to efficiently connect billions of hard-to-reach devices in metro scale and other challenging environments. On-Ramp’s field-proven Ultra-Link Processing™ system enables low-power monitoring and control applications within Smart Grid, water efficiency, industrial sensing, and location tracking. Operating in un-licensed spectrum, our signal processing innovation finds weak signals even in high noise environments, yielding extreme coverage, immunity to high interference, and significantly lowers cost.
